Can My Roof Be Repaired?

For many homeowners, roof replacement is not something that fits the limitations of their budget, especially when the economy is not doing well. Fortunately, with the help of an experienced contractor, many roofing issues can be fixed to return a roof to good working condition.

Roof repairs are often an option for a range of roofing problems, including:

  • Wind damage
  • Leaks
  • Loose or missing shingles
  • Punctures or penetrations
  • Blistered or cracked shingles
  • Damaged flashing
  • Rotten fascia
  • Poor ventilation

Roof repair is a cost-effective solution that can add several years to the life of a roof. When there are problems that are localized to one or two specific areas, repairs are usually the best option. However, if the roof requires several repairs in various areas, it could be more cost-effective to replace the entire roof. Our knowledgeable roofers are here to offer expert advice regarding the right choice for each individual’s specific situation.

Can I Replace A Roof During Winter?

Across the state of Washington, roof replacements typically occur from Spring through Fall. However, for some contractors, like New Heights Roofing, winter is suitable as well. Our experienced professionals work year-round, and we know how to ensure our roof installations are not affected by cold temperatures. If it’s wintertime and a house needs a roof replacement, now is the time to call!

Roof Replacement Vs. Reroofing

When changes need to happen across an entire roof, there are two main options: reroofing and roof replacement. Reroofing is the simpler, cheaper, and faster option of the two. During this process, nothing is removed. The roofers will simply install a new layer of shingles on the current layer. This method of roof revitalization is only suitable for roofs that don’t have any structural issues and have never been reroofed before.

When a roof requires a full replacement, the process begins by tearing off the old roofing materials and exposing the roof deck. If significant damage to the roof deck is found, the issues will need to be repaired to prevent further damage. Once the decking is sound, a layer of underlayment is applied to the deck for protection from water and the elements. The process ends with the installation of the new shingles.
